Vancouver

The Vancouver tower has 23 floors with a maximum of four apartments per floor. The balconies of the Vancouver tower are on top of each other so that, in combination with vertical wooden beams on the facade, a vertical articulation is created. The facade runs along the balconies on one side. This is to prevent wind nuisance and to obtain an asymmetrical facade image. The tower consists of three segments with a transition in between. The core of the tower is the same over the entire height. The middle segment is mirrored, which makes it appear as if the segments have been rotated. The outdoor space on the dune on the first floor is made of wooden decking to enhance the beach feeling. The wooden beams on the facade are like greyed wooden breakwaters in the sea. The entrance is two floors high. At the entrance, the façade is set back and marked by two-storey high columns that continue from the upper façade columns. Behind the entrance is the bicycle shed with its own access to the outside. Next to the entrance is a sports area where residents can do exercises. The Vancouver tower has its own character, is dynamic and asymmetrical, it seems to move in a dance together with the other towers of Duin.
